There are a number of things you an try… These are a list of what I would do, in the order I would do them.
a) Mr. Clean Magic Eraser (Heavy Duty, in Pink Box)
b) Take a plastic butter knife and do a DETAILED scrape of ONLY the crayon area, brush away the flakes then buff the whole area with a balled up newspaper.
c) Heat an iron to med/low and put a paper towel on the crayon and Iron the paper towel to melt crayon to be absorbed by the paper towel.
try very hot water
Try "goo gone". You can get it at Walmart in the paint section.
Try Mr. Clean magic eraser.
You didn’t mention what kind of desk though. Is it all wood? cheap panel board?
I love magic erasers. Just scrub the crayon area a little bit until it starts to come off and then if it’s a wood you want to polish it up with a little bit of furniture polish afterwards.
I’ve also heard that WD-40 can work (just test it on an inconspicuous area first)
What kind of surface is the desk? If it is something shiny enough you can probably even scrape the crayon off. If it is wood or something textural I would just try as many cleaning products as possible. Maybe nail polish remover and a scrub if you don’t have access to many cleaning products
